Moi aussi je voudrais bien relire Elric, et aussi Hawkmoon au passage...ça fait plus de 10 ans que je les ai lu, ça commence à faire loin...mais j'ai pas de place dans mon planning pendant quelques mois encore je pense...
j'y arriverai jamais, j'y arriverai jamais (dit la fille à moitié hystérique qui voudrait bien relire les livres qu'elle aime mais qui ne peut pas résister à en lire de nouveaux...c'est pas facile la vie desfois...)...M'enfin...quoi qu'il arrive je pense qu'il va être indispensable de relire tout ça avant la sortie du film...mais comme c'est pas pour tout de suite...Thys

I like movies to be movies and books to be books.Quite a bit.Deux extrait de l'interview qui me reconfortent quand à la possible qualité et fidelité du scriptmaintenant reste plus qu'a voir le casting, les effets speciaux, le detail du scénario, le directeur, le producteur, etc etc

C'est clair, moi non plus je ne le vois pas dans le rôle d'elric ! Mais Moorcock dit qu'il aimerait le voir dans le film, pas pour le rôle d'elric spéciallement, l'espoir est sauf !

Heureusement, parce que c'est vrai qu'il n'a pas trop la tête de l'emploi quand même...ou alors avec beaucoup de maquillage, des prothèses et des effets spéciaux par dessus....remarquez qu'à se compte là on n'a qu'à donner le rôle à Andy Serkis!

), je rajoute ceci :I'm working with the Weitz brothers who produced American Pie. This was a successful version of an old genre but changed the emphasis by making the female characters the bemused superiors. The second movie was not so good (they only produced it) but kept the same theme. About A Boy tends to show the same attitudes. I know from talking to them that they are very keen to have dynamic female characters in the movie and that the people at Universal also like this idea. I have already modified the first movie to give it a strong female character based on Yishana (well it IS Yishana) without altering the rest of the story's dynamic.

Des nouvelles ! Plusieurs scénarios sont arrivés sur le bureau des frères W. et de Moorcock, de scénaristes débutants ou connus, pratiquement dès l'annonce de la mise en chantier du film. Mais Moorcock n'en a pas encore ouvert un seul.Egalement, petit retour sur comment MM a rencontré ses partenaires :
As I understand it, the folks who have optioned your movie are also the fellows who did the ABOUT A BOY adaptation, and the AMERICAN PIE films, correct? They have quite an interesting body of work behind them. I wonder what made them go in this direction?They had been saying, since About A Boy came out that they would like to do a really big sf/fantasy movie as ambitious, at least, as The Matrix. They had both read the Elric books and been enthusiasts, so when they learned I was ready to consider doing an Elric movie (which I'd held off doing until the technology was more flexible and could actually be used by a director rather than the director being used by it) they contacted my agent and then came to see me. They also share my views about active female characters and so on (as you'll note even from American Pie) so we were very much in tune. Also I liked them pretty much instantly. In other words, the chemistry was right. I intend to make Elric a success on the big screen and we are both committed to making a highly commercial movie as well as a very ambitious one, keeping the fundamentals of Elric and the books in place. It can be done and I'm pretty sure we can do it. That's one of the reasons I want to rewrite it into a coherent movie trilogy, not losing the original books, but condensing them to their essentials. Some of the best fantasy stories are tragedies, I think, and still work. Look at Lancelot and Guinevere and the Arthurian story. Some of the most enduring movies are effectively tragedies (Citizen Kane, Casablanca, The Third Man spring to mind, not to mention King Kong -- 'it was beauty killed the beast' -- and Frankenstein, even 2001) so it's a matter of HOW you do it, I think. I've given this quite a lot of thought and will give it a lot more, as we all will, before we start filming!
