Kingdom Hearts: Electronic Gaming Monthly indicates Disney is very interested in turning the role-playing video game into a full length movie.

Oct. 13, 2003Kid's dragon tale flies to Fox Fox 2000 has optioned the feature film rights to "Eragon," a New York Times bestseller from teenage scribe Christopher Paolini. The story centers on a boy named Eragon who finds a polished blue stone in the forest. At first, he thinks it's a lucky discovery, something that will bring meat to his poor family for the winter. Instead it brings a dragon hatchling, and Eragon is soon thrust into a world of magic and power through which he and the dragon must navigate. The studio division, headed by Elizabeth Gabler, will now look for a scribe to adapt the novel. No producers are attached. (Chris Gardner)

Regency Enterprises has acquired Kirby Atkins' fantasy script Bagloria with helmer Robert Lederman attached to direct and Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal's Tribeca on board to produce.The project, described as a cross between "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and "Harry Potter," centers on a group of kids who find a portal in their classroom closet to a fantasy world called Bagloria. When their teacher is pulled inside, the kids must brave the inhabitants of this world to rescue their teacher and save the school.Atkins previously wrote Spooks, which sold to Miramax Films, and has been working on TV episodes of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.

Vierte Boll Kino Beteiligungs-GmbH & Co. KG (Boll KG) and Gas Powered Games have joined forces to bring the popular action/fantasy video game Dungeon Siege to the silver screen. Boll KG, the production company responsible for several film adaptations of video games including BloodRayne, Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead, recently purchased the theatrical and merchandise rights for Dungeon Siege.  Executive producer and director Dr. Uwe Boll, expects to begin filming Dungeon Siege in late 2004, and estimates a budget in the $50 million range. Interactive Film Sales International will handle the foreign rights sales for the production."Dungeon Siege transcends the video game genre and appeals to mainstream entertainment audiences," said Boll. "Based on the success of 'House of the Dead', I believe 'Dungeon Siege' contains major crossover potential because of its unique blend of action and fantasy, on the order of Lord of the Rings."Originally released in the United States on April 5, 2002, Dungeon Siege is an action/fantasy role-playing game (RPG) designed by Chris Taylor, president and creative director of Gas Powered Games. MGM has bought the rights to ?Henry Bates and the Sorcerer's Balls? - a spoof of the "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings" franchises, says Variety. The studio is looking to conjure up a fantasy parody in the vein of the "Scary Movie" horror-spoof franchise. The film was scripted by David Morgasen, James R. Stein and Timothy Stack. "Our good wizard is Gandolfini, who goes against the evil wizard Enron," Morgasen told Variety. "The quest involves Henry Bates, the rightful king of the land of Middlefinger."
